Terms of Use

Last updated 21 September 2026

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Puku. By downloading, using or subscribing to Puku, you agree to them. Please read the subscription section carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Who may use Puku

You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms for you.

2. Your account and your licence

Puku ("the app") is a German-learning app provided by Aayush Gelal ("we", "us"). We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Puku for your own non-commercial use on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and to the terms of the app store you installed it from. On Apple devices, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies.

An account is optional. If you create one, you agree to keep it secure and to tell us promptly of any unauthorised use. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive; not to bypass subscription controls or other protections; not to copy, scrape, resell or commercially exploit the app, its catalogue or its content; not to use automated systems to access the app or our servers; and not to try to gain unauthorised access to our systems or to other people's accounts.

4. Videos and YouTube

The clips in Puku are short parts of videos published on YouTube, played with YouTube's embedded player. The videos belong to their creators; we do not host, sell or claim any of them, and showing a clip is not an endorsement of it.

By using Puku you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms). A clip can stop being available at any time if its owner removes it or disables embedding.

If a clip is inappropriate or wrong, use the report button and we will look at it.

5. Learning content

Transcripts, translations, definitions and levels in Puku are produced automatically and can contain mistakes. They are provided to help you learn, not as professional or certified language instruction.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Puku is offered as a paid subscription (Puku Pro), monthly or yearly.

Plans and price: the plan, length and price are shown in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm. Prices may change with reasonable notice; a change never affects a period you have already paid for.

Free trial: where a free trial is offered, its length is shown before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts into a paid subscription and your store account is charged.

Payment: purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play through your store account, and payment is charged when you confirm the purchase (or when a free trial ends).

Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.

Managing and cancelling: you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app or your Puku account does not cancel a subscription.

7. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable, and we do not refund any unused part of a subscription. Purchases are sold and billed by the app store, so any refund is at the store's discretion and handled by the store, not by us: for Apple, visit reportaproblem.apple.com; for Google Play, use your order history. Nothing here removes any refund right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law where you live.

8. Intellectual property

Puku and its name, logo, mascot, design, software, and its transcripts, translations and dictionary as compiled in the app, are owned by us and protected by law. The videos belong to their respective owners.

9. Disclaimer and liability

Puku is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any clip will remain available, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, a nominal amount). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Indemnification

To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify us against claims, damages or expenses arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the app.

11. Termination

You may stop using the app, and delete your account from inside the app, at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or engage in fraudulent or illegal activity. When your access ends we delete your account data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, indemnification and limitation of liability, will survive.

12. Changes

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date above will change and, where appropriate, we will tell you in the app. Continuing to use Puku after an update means you accept the revised terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Kathmandu, Nepal have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms, except where the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country you live in give you the right to bring proceedings there.

14. Your app store's terms also apply

Because Puku is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, each store's terms, including Apple's Standard Licensed Application EULA, govern your licence and your purchases, except where these terms add detail.
